No journey to love, marriage, and the birth of one's children is straight and narrow. Tara journeyed along this path of unexpected turns to the doorstep of her personal and beautiful version of Motherhood.
Protecting her story with great sensitivity, she has gained a sturdy confidence and an infectious energy with which she unabashedly embraces her path. At her wedding she had the poignant song "Bless The Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts sung in recognition of the road she traveled to arrive at the altar where she stood beside her husband, the love of her life, and her lovely daughter sandwiched in between. It was a tribute to the fact that all families come to be in their own blessed ways and love - true, unconditional love - forges unbreakable bonds.
I spent the day with Tara to capture her life as a mother. It was a beautiful, simple day full of the giant and effervescent personalities of young children in contrast to their small and endearing gestures, the cooing of mother to baby, quiet play after a busy day at school, and the excitement surrounding Dad's return from work... so many profound moments in a day for a family, and for Mom who is truly their stalwart foundation.
I asked Tara what Motherhood meant to her and out tumbled word upon word to describe this ever-challenging, ever-changing and immense experience. Each word, in its solitary space, resounds loudly and together forms the inherent poetry of a Mother's love...
